Shigurestorm

  A muffled yowl of terror split the night silence, along with loud growls, howls, and vicious barks. A small calico with something clenched in her jaws was running rapidly through the bushes of the forest, electric green eyes wide with terror. Large bulky figures were chasing it, teeth bared and eyes shimmering with excitement.  Finally the calico launched herself into a tree and up on a branch. She'd underestimated the dogs though, because the largest one sprang up, grabbing the tree branch in it's jaws and breaking it, bring it down towards the ground.   Wind whistled and howled through the dark night. Crickets sat, unusually quiet. The trees blew in the wind. The sky was starless...cloudless...moonless...Where was everyone? Where was anything?
